Since I’ve started programming Project Glide, the game has become a fresh change in my game development work. I really enjoy coding it and I’ve decided to develop it for a short time into a full game as a small break from coding Robox.
I also recently heard of YoYo Games’ Win Big Competition, I thought it would also be nice to enter the game into the competition and Windows Store once I finish it also, just to see how it does. This of course means it needs to meet the deadline of June 28th 2013, this is the first time I’ve worked to a deadline for game development, hopefully I can stick to the schedule and get the job done.
Development has been slow over the past week due to other commitments I’ve had in life, however I’m pretty much free of them now so should be able to work on Project Glide much more than I have previously. I’ve had lots of ideas and can’t wait to prototype them and maybe implement them into the game if they work well enough.
I altered the shooting code for the boats and unintentionally created some very worthy adversaries, these guys take no prisoners and waste no time trying to destroy me…
Here’s an image from tonight’s “Project Glide” build. I’ve been adding nice little aesthetic things to make it nicer to play.
The player’s plane is now animated in full, so it looks great when its flying around, still need to do the same for enemy planes at this point…
Going to keep with the updates on this game when I get the time and will still hopefully have time for Robox if I can allocate my time well enough.
Just uploaded an alpha trailer from my Luftrauser inspired aerial combat simulator, which I have codenamed “Project Glide”. This is in no way intended to be a clone, just my attempt at making a game inspired by a great flash game. As a huge fan of Luftrauser I’m very excited about the announcement of their fully fledged sequel Luftrausers, its definitely worth checking out. This is the game after about 3 days of work, the basic mechanics are in there but they will need fine tuning later in the future. I intend to add a quite a few tough enemies in the game and also include bonuses for the pilot to unlock like upgraded weapons, bombs, and so on… I also intend to make the difficulty curve a little bit less daunting than Luftrauser as it becomes very difficult after a few minutes into the game, which could put off less experienced players. Going to keep working on this now, its really enjoyable to create.
