Incoming Fire!!!

I’ve added the first enemies to the game today just for a bit of fun. Above is my first creation, a robot that can fire projectiles that will kill the main character with a single shot. I’ve also added a mobile version of this enemy but had to reduce its shooting range to compensate for its ability to move. I’m going to add a few more enemies in the coming days, I’ve got loads of ideas, I’ll just need some time to add them…

Snow = Progress

Being snowed in and unable to get to work today has (1) made me very happy and (2) made time for me to code a few more things for the game. Today alone I added an improved boosting system, a multi-directional shooting system and deployable bombs. I’ve also decided that I’m going to now focus on the character and his interaction with the world, this includes his basic movements, physics, actions, powerups, and so on… Hopefully I’ll have everything in this area cleared up by next week (I’m aiming for 15th December). If everything goes well I should be able to move onto the next part of the game, which will most likely be enemies, physical objects, etc… I’ll keep this blog updated with my progress over this next week, wish me luck…

Back to Development

After quite a long time away from development I have returned. A few months ago I slowed down my coding efforts due to a lack of time, however recently I’ve got some of that time back and I’ve been chipping away at some of the old bugs in the game with a lot of success, after this I added and improved a few existing game elements, such as powerups, physics, graphics, etc… for example the above screenshot shows a booster system I’ve implemented to help the character jump longer distances. In an ideal world I’d hope to continue developing at this speed from now on but I’ve got to accept that now and again things will come up that slow down or completely stop development, but hey what can you do? I’ll try to do my best to keep it going at a good rate from now on and I’ll try to post more frequent updates as the game progresses. That’s all for now folks, adios amigos…
